Did you know the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has a Reserve Forces Detail (RFD)?

Well, here’s a tidbit of information on the #LASD’s RFD…The RFD is an auxiliary unit of the LASD. RFD deputies are competent and trained volunteers who wish to fulfill their dream of becoming a deputy sheriff or part of the law enforcement family. They assist full-duty deputy personnel, by serving their communities during major or critical incidents, as well as day-to-day activities.

Reserve deputies are utilized to supplement the Department’s law enforcement manpower, by preforming general law enforcement duties, including crime prevention, investigation, and respond to calls, traffic control and enforcement of laws. These professionally trained volunteers, are assigned to one of the many LASD stations, units, and bureaus. RFD manages Reserve Deputy Sheriffs, Volunteer Services Unit, Civilian Emergency Response Team (CERT), Search and Rescue, Mounted Posse/Mounted Search and Rescue, and Volunteer Search Dogs.
