Montebello Transit Bus Stabbing Victim Succumbed

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detectives are continuing their investigation into the stabbing assault that occurred in the 5700 Block of Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles on April 9, 2018, at approximately 10:13 A.M. 

On June 10, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. 

The suspect identified as Manuel Ortiz male Hispanic, 23, was arrested for the assault on April 12, 2018 at approximately 3 A.M.  His bail was originally set at 1.35 million dollars for the charge of attempted murder. Based on the victim's death, the suspect’s charges will be amended to Murder in the First Degree and his bail will be set for 2 million dollars. 

On June 10, 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.  Based on the death the suspect’s charges will be amended to Murder in the First Degree, and his bail will be set for 2 million.
