LASD Explorer Competition

Recognizing #Explorers & the Unsung Heroes for their Amazing Performance in the 2018 North County Explorer Competition

The two day tactical competition event this past April comprised of 35 teams from California, Arizona and Nevada, and included teams from 31 different law enforcement agencies.

The North County Explorer posts were integral in garnering top placement in the 14 team and five individual events. These Explorers trained long hours for several months for scenarios ranging from felony traffic stop, domestic violence, to active shooter and other dynamic scenarios. Their physical fitness was also tested, as they raced through timed obstacle courses, wall climbing and the pulling of a one ton BearCat across the road. Their hard work and dedication paid off!

The North County Explorer Competition is a celebration of LASD’s successful law enforcement youth development programs. Exposing young minds to further develop skills in real life settings allows youth from all over to not only challenge themselves, but to nurture their leadership skills in action, accountability and responsibility.

Explorers, you are each commended for your hard work, dedication, and the professional manner in which you represented not only your individual posts and stations, but the entire Sheriff's Department. Job well done!
