LASD Parks Bureau brings lacrosse to LA County Dept. Of Parks & Recreation

LASD Parks Bureau Sergeant Jeff Martin and Dept of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Recreational Sports Leader Gabriel Fowler partnered to offer the "Lacrosse Summer Clinic Series." The clinics were offered during (DPR) Parks After Dark programs during the month of July.

The Summer Clinic Series was designed to bring America's fastest growing sport into neighborhoods that have not had access to the sport. Youth were taught basic lacrosse fundamentals and participated in competitive games. Sergeant Martin of Parks Bureau reached out to US Lacrosse who sponsored the series and provided equipment and support. The series finale was held August 4, at El Cariso Park. US Lacrosse sent a cadre of former college and professional lacrosse players to coach at the event. Each child in attendance received a complimentary lacrosse stick, ball, and tshirt. As a result of these successful clinics several LA County Dept. Of Parks & Recreation sites have already started forming lacrosse teams with plans of expanding the programs the clinics. #LASD is always looking to collaborate with community groups to better and enrich the lives of our youth!
