Two years ago on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, Lancaster Station personnel and the Antelope Valley community lost a beloved friend, esteemed supervisor and community pillar, Sergeant Steve Owen. Sergeant Owen paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting the community.

Sergeant Owen began his career with LASD in 1987. He worked at East Facility, Lynwood Station, Antelope Valley Station, Transit Services, and promoted to sergeant in August 2011. He worked at Lancaster Sheriff Station as the LAN-CAP (Lancaster Community Appreciation Project) Sergeant until he was murdered. He was also a part of the Department’s Mounted Enforcement Detail and the Off Road Enforcement Team.

Today marked the second anniversary of his death. Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department honored fallen Sergeant Owen during a twenty four hour vigil. Deputies from many units, members from several communities, and friends joined Sergeant Owen’s beloved wife, Retired Detective Tania Owen in paying their respect to the late Steve Owen. #EOW
