Lancaster Station

#LASD #TBT 1850: Although the Lancaster Sheriff's Station officially opened in 1937 as the Sheriff's Department's 11th station, a law enforcement presence has been in Antelope Valley since 1850, from county constables to resident deputies. As the population increased in the area, it was apparent there was a need to establish a permanent law enforcement agency for the area. In the early 1930’s, a resident deputy was assigned to the #AVarea. A resident deputy is one who lives in the area they are assigned, to help resolve police matters quickly and swiftly. 1961, Antelope Valley Station was dedicated, being called “one of the most modern and best equipped in the county system.” This station handled many of the areas now patrolled by today’s #Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff's Station. The current Lancaster Station was dedicated in 1996, and serves the communities of the City of Lancaster, Lake Los Angeles, Quartz Hill and Antelope Acres.
