Century Station Detectives, County District Attorney’s Office Hard Work Pays Off: Suspect Sentenced to 15 Years for Violent Brick Attack of 91 Year Old Man

#LASD Century Station Deputies learned of an assault the night of July 4, 2018, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the area of East 118th Street and Robin Street, Unincorporated Los Angeles. On July 4, without provocation, Laquisha Jones attacked a 91 year-old elderly man with a brick. Rodolfo Rodriguez sustained severe injuries in the assault.

Detectives began an extensive investigation into the violent act. They identified and obtained an arrest and search warrant for a suspect. After working every angle and lead in the case, it ultimately resulted in the arrest of Laquisha Jones without incident. Detectives worked closely with District Attorney professionals to compile and ensure a thorough case was presented before the court.

Laquisha Jones pled no contest on December 27, 2018, to one count of elder abuse, infliction of injury, and also admitted allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a brick, during the commission of the crime and that she inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim. She also admitted that she was convicted in 2017 of making criminal threats.

On Thursday, February 28, 2019, 92 year-old, Rodolfo Rodriguez, received justice when 30 year-old Laquisha Jones was sentenced to 15 years.
