Re-enactment of an alcohol related collision

Every 15 Minutes at San Dimas High School

After attending prom on March 18, four San Dimas High School students decided to go out and have a few drinks. A 17 year old teen driver ultimately decided to drive under the influence of alcohol, killing one of his passengers and severely injuring three others. The driver was treated for his injuries, then arrested and booked at the San Dimas Sheriff’s station for charges of DUI and manslaughter related to the death of his girlfriend.

News flash…This tragedy DID NOT actually occur!!!

The pictures here are not from a real crash but a re-enactment of what can potentially happen. Today, students from San Dimas High School along with LASD San Dimas Station deputies, CHP - Baldwin Park, LA County Fire Department, LA County Coroner, Sanders Tow, and Forest Lawn in Covina participated in the “Every 15 minutes” program, including a mock DUI crash.

What is "Every 15 Minutes?" The Every 15 Minutes program is a two-day program focusing on high school juniors and seniors, which challenges them to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, the responsibility of making mature decisions and the impact their decisions have on family, friends, their community, and many others. With Prom season approaching, the program allows students to see firsthand the consequences for driving under the influence of alcohol and what happens to your loved ones. This experience is unforgettable and we hope to have made an impact on those who attended today.

Remember, every 15 minutes someone dies as a result of an alcohol related collision. Please, do not drink and drive! Make better choices!
