On Saturday, March 30, 2019, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva and Assistant Sheriff Maria Gutierrez celebrated the 10th Annual Los Angeles Police Department Cesar E. Chavez Appreciation Brunch at Plaza De La Raza in the city of Los Angeles.

Each year, this event serves as a celebration of the birth and legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist Cesar Chavez. It also reminds each one of us to carry this legacy forward.

Surrounded by food, music and cheerful crowd, Sheriff Villanueva was warmly greeted by Paul Chavez, son of the legendary leader Cesar Chavez, and Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez. This event also attended by LAPD Chief Michel Moore, Long Beach PD Chief Robert Luna, and Los Angeles city Fire Department Ralph Terrazas.

All guests enjoyed the gathering and shared the Hope of Cesar Chavez: To serve and inspire our communities and neighborhoods we represent, and “Together, all things are possible.” (Cesar E. Chavez)
