#LASD Deputies Arrest Man on Traffic Stop, Confiscate Illegal Fireworks/Explosives Cache Including over 80 M-80 Devices

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2019, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Carson Sheriff’s Station Deputies arrested a 22 year-old man following a traffic stop for possession of a controlled substance for sales. During the arrest a search of the suspect’s vehicle led to the discovery of several types of illegal fireworks including 80 M-80 type of explosive devices.

The LASD Special Enforcement Bureau Arson/Explosives Detail (SEB/AED), a specialized unit trained to handle these devices, responded to the scene to recover the explosives and ultimately render them safe.

The suspect, a resident of Compton, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale and felony possession of an explosive device, and is being held at Carson Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $30,000 bail. 
There is no further information.
