#ThrowbackThursday LASD Parks Bureau Deputies

After the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department assumed all law enforcement responsibilities of Lake Castaic and Pyramid Lakes in July, 2010, all sworn personnel assigned there have received specialized training in Boat Operations and Marine Law Enforcement.

Additionally, they are also certified Emergency Medical Technicians to provide emergency medical services when needed. Among them are certified Department Divers, equipped with scuba gear and rated to a maximum depth of 165 feet. All of the extensive specialized training is to provide the highest level of safety and security service for the public.

The former law enforcement agency that patrolled the lakes was the Los Angeles County Police, which was absorbed by LASD in 2010.

The Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department polices 177 county parks, golf courses and special event venues throughout Los Angeles County.
