Bear Goes Everywhere West Covina Big League Dreams

Bear Goes Everywhere West Covina Big League Dreams

This week our #BearGoesEverywhere traveled to the Big League Dreams West Covina to root for the Second Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, Softball Tournament, hosted by Los Angeles Police Department. This competitive event benefits the Special Olympics of Southern California. Forty law enforcement softball teams competed to raise awareness and funds (over $20,000.00) for Special Olympics athletes from the Los Angeles area.

There were over 600 officers and deputies from various law enforcement agencies including our very own Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, alongside Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. World Airport Police, L.A. District Attorney's Office, Alhambra Police Department, Azusa Police Department, Covina Police Department, Monrovia Police Department, California Highway Patrol and many more.

#LASD has a strong winning reputation; last year, the Gold Division was won by our Twin Towers Team and the Silver Division was won by our County Services Bureau Team.

This year, the Gold Division was won by LAPD South East and the Silver Division was won by our very own Twin Towers Team.

Many people were in attendance including LASD Captain Kimberly Unland; Special Olympics Development Manager; and L.A./San Gabriel Valley Region Special Olympics Athletes.

Until next time, everyone stay safe and look out for the Bear in your city.
