Bear Goes Everywhere

Bear Goes Everywhere

#BearGoesEverywhere visited Biscailuz Center Academy Training in Los Angeles to see our future Bears in training.

The pre-academy has been in place for more than 12 years. It was implemented to provide an opportunity for those in the testing process to better prepare and get a glimpse of academy life. It includes physical training sessions, tours of the facility, and discussions on nutrition, stretching, proper injury prevention techniques, and tips for success while in the academy.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Training Bureau holds the pre-academy classes twice a week after hours both at the BC Training site and the College of the Canyons academy campus in Santa Clarita.

The LASD Training Bureau currently has 143 sworn members and 51 professional staff members assigned to the Bureau. Those units include:

• Operations
• Advanced Officer Training
• Video Production Unit
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Center (Drivers Training)
• Motor Services Detail (Motorcycle training Unit)
• Field Operations Training (Force and Defensive Tactics)
• Recruit Training (Academy staff)
• Weapons Training
• Tactics and Survival Unit (Tactical Training)
• Professional Development Unit (Leadership Training and College Programs)
• Civilian Training Unit (Training for Professional Staff members)
• Education and Training Records Unit
